The second graders have been working with rhythms using quarter notes (doo), eighth notes (doo-day) and quarter rests (silence). Here is Mrs. Knight's class tapping out some rhythms to the "Angry Birds Theme".

Mbira Jam: 2:00 6th Grade

After creating a whole-class melody, the third graders became composers of their very own song! Here they are hard at work. Beethoven would be proud.

The third graders have been working with dotted quarter and three 3 eighth-note patterns in 6/8 meter all year, as well as improvising. We combined these two skills to create a class melody to the poem "Oh My Fish in the Sky". We used an F pentatonic scale, so our melody ends on F, which is Do.
